Lev. 25:35 If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so he can continue to live among you.
Room In The Inn runs from November through March each year, in coordination with more than 20 congregations throughout the Lexington area. The program provides safe shelter, warm meals, and fellowship for men struggling with homelessness during the coldest months of the year. We strive to be the heart, the hands, and the face of Jesus Christ to those we serve by offering unconditional love and fellowship to those who are otherwise ostracized by society.

Today, nearly 20 congregations representing many faith traditions engage in this ministry, providing overnight shelter and hospitality, inspired by God’s love. The concept has become a model for programs in 36 other cities, from Calgary, Canada, to Charlotte, North Carolina.

OUR HISTORY
Room In The Inn Lexington’s ministry was born over 15 years ago in response to a cease-and-desist order issued by the LFUCG against a local church who began offering food and shelter in their basement during the coldest nights of the winter. In response to the City’s action, a small delegation was formed that traveled to Nashville, TN to evaluate the ministry; Room In The Inn Nashville. The Nashville ministry began in 1986 under the leadership of Father Charles Stroble, with 4 churches. It is now Nashville’s second largest shelter with over 200 host congregations participating.
